Prevalence of Gambling and Problem Gambling in New South Wales
The 2011 prevalence study is the largest dedicated survey into problem gambling in NSW with a sample size of 10,000 telephone interviews with adults aged 18 and over. A rigorous methodology was applied using the latest best practice techniques in gambling survey design. Data collection occurred from September to November 2011. The results of the survey are compared to the NSW Government¡¯s 2006 prevalence study. However the 2011 methodology for measuring problem gambling differed from the 2006 approach, and therefore the prevalence and gambling risk rates from the two surveys are not directly comparable. The survey covers a range of important issues related to gambling in NSW.
