n October, 2013, the Board approved the adoption of three new grant options for researchers and/or research teams in recognition of the increasing collaborative and joint research undertakings. To date, there has been a multi-faceted approach to expanding research conducted under the auspices of the Institute which included: an annual call for investigator-initiated ¡®Major Grant¡¯ proposals each May; open application opportunities for ¡®Small Grants¡¯ which aim to promote developmental and formative research initiatives; annual graduate and doctoral level Scholarship Awards for demonstra-bly promising new gambling researchers as well as Board initiated specific ¡®Strategic and Collaborative Initiatives¡¯ to address specific stakeholder identi-fied research needs. The new opportunities include the following complementary types of grants:
1 Leveraging Grants - provided to enable research-ers to augment externally-funded projects with a gambling-related component in stakeholder identified high priority areas;2 Team Development Grants – joint proposals which aim to support the development of multi/interdisciplinary academic teams among Partner Universities, nationally, internationally, and with other stakeholders3 Impact Grants – ¡®special purpose¡¯ grants to sup-port initiatives that contribute to addressing Institute priorities other than primary research (e.g., research data repository, knowledge trans-fer/translation initiatives, outcome measure-ment, etc.)
