he Institute continued its progress on the implementation of the 2011-16 Funding Agreement and associated Memorandum of Agreement changes  in 2012-13. 
By March 31, 2013, the following important changes had been undertaken:

• a Board retreat was held (April 11 & 12, 2012) to assess the best means to engage expert advice on developing and moving forward with the Institute’s strategic research plan
• a commitment was made to support the  initial setup of a ‘sustainability position’ at each of the Partner Universities(for a period of five years)
• a Research Director was contracted (in early 2013) to advise the Board on identifying research initiatives and collaborative section following)
• the 2013-14 scholarship awards and research allowances were increased with a view to attracting and recruiting the most promising new researchers and young scholars to gambling research
