In 2008/09, two ¡®new¡¯ major proposals were approved:
• Trauma and female problem gambling: A qualitative grounded theory study (Research Grant #50)
• Evaluating the psychometric performance of the Four Es Scale: A cross-cultural comparison of factors related to gambling behavior and mental health in Canadian and American college students (#51)
During the same period, the following major projects were completed:
• CRAFT (Community Reinforcement and Family Training) with problem gambling (#42)
• The Alberta Lottery Fund and funding amateur arts, sports, recreation, and professional sports: A study of public awareness and willingness to support (#43)
• Exploring offender gambling from prison through re-entry: A cross-national investigation (#44)
• The effects of ethnicity, participation in gambling and other leisure activities, and leisure satisfaction, on quality of life (#45)Other major projects that were ongoing in 2008/09 included:
• Culture and gambling: Research on ethno-cultural minorities¡¯ involvement (#46)
• Acculturation and gambling: The case of mainland Chinese immigrants to Calgary, Alberta (#47)
• Risk and protective factors for problem gambling among urban aboriginals in Edmonton (#48)
• Conversations of change? Examining gamblers¡¯ help-seeking and change-sustaining conversations (#49)
