    he Public Accounts of Alberta are prepared in accordance with theFinancial Administration Act and the Government AccountabilityAct.  The Public Accounts consist of the annual report of the Prov-ince of Alberta and the annual reports of each of the 18 ministries.

    The annual report of the Province of Alberta contains the con-solidated financial statements of the province and a comparison ofthe actual performance results to desired results set out in the gov-ernment¡¯s business plan, including a message from the ProvincialTreasurer.  The province¡¯s audited consolidated financial statementsinclude the accounts of government entities consisting of depart-ments (all departments combined form the General Revenue Fund),the Alberta Heritage Savings Trust Fund and other regulated funds,provincial agencies and Crown-controlled corporations.

    This annual report of the Ministry of Gaming contains theaudited consolidated financial statements of the ministry and acomparison of actual performance results to desired results setout in the ministry¡¯s business plan, including a message from theMinister.  The ministry¡¯s audited consolidated financial state-ments include the accounts of the Department of Gaming, regu-lated funds, provincial agencies and Crown-controlledcorporations for which the Minister is responsible.  The financialstatements of each of these component entities of the ministryare also included in this annual report.

    This annual report includes, either as a separate report oras part of financial statements, the reports or statements pre-pared pursuant to the Financial Administration Act, to theextent that the ministry has anything to report.  A summary ofexpenditures under each appropriation in the ministry, as re-quired by the Government Accountability Act, is included in thefinancial statements of the department.

    Financial information relating to the Alberta Gaming andLiquor Commission, the Alberta Lottery Fund, the AlbertaGaming Research Council and the Alberta Gaming ResearchInstitute is also included in this annual report as supplementaryinformation.
